Bloombux®: commercially strong, horticulturally reliable and a long-term revenue driver for specialist retailers

The lime-tolerant alternative to boxwood wins over retailers and landscape professionals alike with its robustness and range diversity

Bloombux by Inkarho has for years been one of the most reliable alternatives to boxwood and remains an important part of the assortment for both specialist retailers and the garden and landscaping sector. This lime-tolerant dwarf rhododendron offers numerous advantages that make it an enduringly attractive product for garden centres. Its distinctive characteristics and wide range of uses ensure that Bloombux continues to generate strong sales momentum.

The original variety is available in pink or magenta and in several sizes and forms – from the small Nugget by Bloombux to the classic bush forms, right through to the ball shape and the striking 40-cm standard, which is particularly popular in high-end design applications. This allows Bloombux to be integrated flexibly into a wide range of planting schemes – from traditional hedges and edging to container planting and use in commercial or public green spaces. Combinations of standards and ground covers are especially popular, as they instantly create dense and decorative structures. In May and June, Bloombux also produces a profusion of small, decorative flowers in pink or magenta, which are attractive to insects and make the plant a visual highlight as well.

As a cultivar of the Inkarho brand, Bloombux is distinguished by its exceptional lime tolerance and its ability to grow reliably in humus-rich, peat-reduced or even completely peat-free substrates. The plant is regarded as robust, healthy and highly tolerant of pruning, making it a particularly dependable alternative to boxwood. Its evergreen character and hardiness down to −20°C make both nursery production and maintenance for the end customer much easier. With a moderate annual growth rate of five to ten centimetres and a final height of around 80 to 100 centimetres, Bloombux remains permanently compact and shape-stable.

Extensive marketing material is available for professional presentation at the point of sale. Banners, table wraps, posters and other PoS materials can be ordered via www.inkarho.de/marketing. This is complemented by a comprehensive image library. The modern black or magenta pots and the eye-catching label emphasise the premium look and ensure strong recognition in the sales area. The various pot sizes range from TB 10.5 for Nugget, to C2 and C5 for the bush forms, through to C5 and C16.5 for the ball shape and the 40-cm standard in C5.
